IPL 2021: Simon Doull suggests the reason behind David Warner's sacking as SRH captain

Kane Williamson will captain SRH for remainder of IPL 2021.

Kane Williamson | BCCI/IPLSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) decided to sack David Warner as skipper and appointed Kane Williamson to lead their side mid-way into the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) season. The franchise made this announcement from their official Twitter handle.

While some people in the cricket fraternity found this to be a good move, former New Zealand pacer Simon Doull was not happy with this decision and believed that there must be some falling out between Warner and the team management.

I think there must have been a falling out somewhere along the lines and not with the team, there has to be a falling out with the coaching structure,” Doull said.

After what he said in that game about leaving Manish Pandey out, it was not his decision at all, he didn't want to do it clearly. And basically, you passed the buck, you blamed it on someone else and I think he has paid the price for that,” he added.

Doull also pointed out that the Hyderabad-based franchise had sacked their coach Tom Moody and brought him back.

That dynamic you sack a coach, Tom Moody, you employ Trevor Bayliss and then you bring Tom Moody back to oversee your cricket. I don't know how that relationship can possibly work. And I wonder whether one (win) in 5 (6) is the direct result of that relationship not working, the 51-year-old told Cricbuzz.

And the press release suggests that he (David Warner) won't even play now that's even more strange,” Doull added.

SRH is scheduled to take on Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday (2 May) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Thus, it will be worth watching if this change in leadership changes the fortunes of the ‘Orange Army’.
