Mumbai Indians (MI) senior batsman Kieron Pollard stood between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and their 6th IPL 2021 win. It was a memorable game for him with an all-round performance that clinched victory for his team.

On Saturday (May 1), Pollard scored 87* runs off 34 balls in a 219-run chase and picked up 2 wickets earlier in the first innings. Once the Caribbean batsman started smashing CSK bowlers, he gave no chance to the MS Dhoni-led side to come back in the match.

"I want to thank god, uncle Steven, giving me the strength. They just lost Moeen, it was the best time for a seamer to come and bowl. It worked, I got two wickets and another over.

"They had four overs of spin to bowl on a small ground, I was trying to hit them. I had to maximize against Jadeja. A couple of sixes were always going to keep us in the game. You have to evolve; lot of practice goes into it," he said.

MI won the match on the last ball as they chased down 219 runs with four wickets in hand. Pollard hit 8 sixes and 6 fours in his knock, making use of the small boundaries in Delhi.

"I can't say I'm 360, I am maximising more angles in the field. Dhawal's decent with the bat, but I needed to bat six balls. That's the pressure you need to take as an individual. We have done this time and time again.

"We got over the line today, fortunately, Faf gave me the chance. Overall, a good wicket. Two wins, hopefully that gives us the momentum," he added.

With a win over table-toppers, CSK, Mumbai Indians are still at number four but they are looking good with 4 wins in 7 matches.
