Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan said that his side has a talented bunch of individuals, but the only talent cannot bring victories as they suffered a humiliating loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 26 of IPL 2021.

Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a 7-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals in their seventh match of IPL 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Asked to bat first, KKR didn’t have a great start with the bat as they found themselves struggling at 82/5 in the 13th over on a good batting surface.

However, a vicious finish by birthday boy Andre Russell, who scored unbeaten 45 off 27 balls, propelled Eoin Morgan-led side to a competitive total of 154 for 6 at the end of their innings.

Defending the target, KKR bowlers didn’t have any answers to the carnage by DC openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan. The duo stitched 132 runs for the opening partnership and helped their side chase the target with 21 balls to spare.

While talking about the loss at the post-match presentation, KKR skipper Eoin Morgan admitted that they are very disappointed with the loss and they were not good enough in all three departments.

"Very disappointed. We were slow off the blocks with the bat, lost wickets in the middle period and Russell got us to 150-plus. Then got slow off the blocks with the ball. Shaw played brilliantly, nothing much we could do.

“Also shows how good the surface was. We were not good enough with all departments. He (Cummins) is part of our new ball plans," Eoin Morgan said during the post-match presentation.

Morgan further said that things didn’t go according to the plans for them. He added that his side has a talented bunch of individuals, but the only talent cannot bring victories, they have to execute their plans well.

“Mavi bowled four on the trot last game and bowled well. Just did not go to plan todayYou need to be honest and realistic with everyone in the dressing room. We have to be as honest as we can with each other.

“Hopefully, we can turn things around. There is a huge amount of talent in our squad but talent alone does not get you far. It is about execution,” he said.

KKR is currently placed at the fifth position in the points table with four points from seven games. The side will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 3rd May
