Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced off in Match 25 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. DC captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first keeping the dew factor in mind.

DC made one change, bringing in Lalit Yadav for Amit Mishra who had a shoulder problem. KKR retained the team they fielded in the previous game against Punjab Kings which they had won comfortably at the same venue.

KKR could only post 154/6 in their 20 overs with the help of some powerful hitting by birthday boy Andre Russell who made 45* in 27 balls. Shubman Gill scored 43 off 38 balls at the top but could not carry on to make his innings count. For DC, Akshar Patel and Lalit Yadav picked up two wickets each.

DC had the perfect start to their chase with Prithvi Shaw slamming six fours in the first over off Shivam Mavi, only the second time a batsman has achieved this feat in the IPL. Shaw went on to score 82 off 41 balls while his senior opening partner Shikhar Dhawan made 46 as Delhi cantered to an easy 7-wicket win with 21 balls to spare.

During the 12th over of Delhi's innings, Varun Chakaravarthy bowled a delivery down the leg side and wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik tried to stump Shikhar Dhawan who maintained his balance and was safely within his crease.

What followed was a hilarious exchange between Karthik and Dhawan, as the keeper cheekily appealed towards Dhawan instead of the square leg umpire, and the opener fell onto his knees in response and dropped his bat as well. The duo go back a long way as they once represented India U-19 and went on to play international cricket together for the country as well for a number of years.
