While India is hit by the second wave of COVID-19, a lot of people are struggling to avail basic medical facilities. Thus, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara has urged people to step forward and give back to the society.
“It has been a difficult time for the people around the world. On one side, you have COVID-19 as a disease, life-threatening, and on other side you have economic consequences of the fallout. A lot of people are suffering for access to medication, hospital bed and oxygen,” Sangakkara said.
“We need to understand that privilege and use our privilege to do something useful in giving back to the communities that are in need. So wherever you are in India, Sri Lanka or in the world it is your duty to contribute,” he said in a video posted by RR’s official Twitter handle.

The former Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batsman then talked about his franchise taking this ‘giving back to the society’ very seriously.
“Rajasthan Royals is very very responsible when it comes to giving back to society. It takes corporate social responsibility very seriously. It is not just a gimmick or marketing term it is something that built and woven into the fabric of Rajasthan Royals,” the 43-year-old said.
