Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Harshal Patel while talking about his bowling performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) in their recent IPL 2021 encounter said that he was looking to execute his yorkers at the death.

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Delhi Capitals by 1 run in a nail-bitter to register their fifth win of the IPL 14. RCB on account of AB de Villiers’ 42 balls 75 runs posted a total of 171 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

Defending the target RCB bowlers tight lines and a fantastic last over by Mohammed Siraj helped Virat Kohli-led side secure their fifth win of the season and move back to the top of the IPL points table.

Apart from Siraj, Harshal Patel once again made a vital contribution, helping RCB clinch a tight encounter. The right-arm bowler bowled the 17th and 19th over, conceding 10 and 11 runs against Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer, who were well set.

In a chat with Mohammed Siraj, posted on the RCB website, Harshal Patel said that he planned to bowl yorkers.

"My plan was simple. I was looking to bowl yorkers as long as I could execute it. We saw in the first innings that the yorkers which were executed properly were difficult to get away so I was just looking to execute my workers,” Harshal Patel told Mohammed Siraj in a video posted on the RCB website.

Patel further revealed that when he was traded to RCB, skipper Virat Kohli and team management made it clear that he would be bowling a lot of overs at the death and in the middle overs and he started working on his yorkers.

“When I was traded to RCB, Virat Kohli and the management told me that I would be bowling in the middle and death overs. After that, I started working on my yorkers and I brought that confidence into games," he said.

With five wins out of their six matches, the Virat Kohli-led side will next face Punjab Kings (PBKS) on 29th April at Ahmedabad.
