IPL 2021: IPL COO Hemang Amin says IPL won't be over until BCCI ensures safe return of all players

Foreign players were concerned about returning to their countries after the IPL 2021 is over.

KKR defeated PBKS in match 21 of IPL 2021 | BCCI/IPLWith the number of COVID-19 cases rising across the country, some of the foreign players have returned to their respective countries by withdrawing from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

While some of the players have decided to stay in the country, they were wary of their return to their home country after the tournament ends on May 30.

But IPL COO Hemang Amin has assured all players and support staff that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will ensure their smooth return at the end of the league.

In a letter written by Amin to all the players and support staff, he wrote, “We understand that many of you are apprehensive about how you will get back home once the tournament concludes, which is natural and understandable.

We want to apprise you that you have nothing to worry about. The BCCI will do everything to ensure that you reach your respective destinations seamlessly. Be rest assured that the tournament is not over for BCCI till each one of you has reached your home, safe and sound,” he further wrote.

Amin then addressed the fact that this ongoing tournament helps a large number of people to distract from current tough times and makes them happy.

While you go about playing the sport, we all love, you are also doing something really important. When you all walk out onto the field, you are bringing hope to millions of people who have tuned in. If even for a minute, you can bring a smile on someone's face, then you have done well,” he wrote.

While there was a lot of talk about whether it is appropriate to continue the league with the number of COVID-19 cases spiking across the country, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had made it clear the IPL 2021 will be going ahead as scheduled.
