IPL 2021: "He is very calculative while taking a risk," Ashish Nehra praises Kane Williamson

Williamson scored a superb 66* to help SRH tie the match.

Kane Williamson | BCCI/IPLSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a really close game against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday (25 April) as the former lost the tied match on the basis of super over in match 20 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

SRH batsman Kane Williamson was the lone warrior from his side as he scored a superb unbeaten 66 off 51 deliveries to take the team closer to Delhi’s total but unfortunately could not take his side home.

The former India pacer Ashish Nehra while talking on Cricbuzz, explained how the New Zealand skipper is as a batsman.

I’ve played against Williamson and he is the kind of batsman who finds out the solution. As a batsman, you have to take risk in the T20 format but he is very calculative while taking a risk,” Nehra said.

The left-arm quick further explained his point with the example of batsman Kedar Jadhav’s dismissal off Amit Mishra.

For example, the way Kedar Jadhav lost his wicket. It was quite difficult to step out and hit a six to Amit Mishra in this kind of pitch. I’m not saying that was impossible. But Kane Williamson didn’t do that. He stepped out for singles and didn’t go for a six. That defines how strong his mindset,” he said.

After the disappointing loss against Capitals in the super over, David Warner and Co. will be taking on three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
