While talking to Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Avesh Khan who is second on the list of leading wicket-takers with 11 wickets to his name in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), Khan made it clear that he is not thinking about winning the Purple Cap.

“The captain and coach told me that I will be playing in this IPL from the very first game. I have been able to fulfill their expectations, I am trying to continue my form and help the team win more games,” Khan said.

Rishabh Pant’s DC had a really close game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where Kane Williamson played an unbeaten knock of 66 but could not get over the line as DC won the tied match on the basis of super over at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

When the right-arm pacer was asked about his plans about bowling on this wicket, he said, “The ball was stopping a bit on this Chennai wicket so I was looking to bowl slower balls, I was trying to make him (Kane Williamson) hit towards the longer boundary.”

The 24-year-old is currently just below RCB’s Harshal Patel on the list of leading wicket-takers with 11 wickets in 5 matches at a great average of 12.45.

“I am at the number two position in the list for taking most wickets this season. I am not thinking about the Purple Cap, I am just looking to perform,” Avesh Khan told teammate Akshar Patel in a video uploaded on IPL’s official site.

After SRH, Rishabh Pant and Co. will be taking on Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday (27 April) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
