IPL 2021: Suresh Raina becomes the fourth Indian batsman to hit 200 sixes in IPL

Raina achieved this feat in match 19 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Suresh Raina became the seventh player to hit 200 sixes in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). Raina reached this feat in match 19 against Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The southpaw became the fourth Indian batsman to get to 200 sixes after Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli. Raina, who scored a quick-fire 24 off just 18 balls was dismissed by RCB pacer Harshal Patel.

Before the start of the match, the 34-year-old was just one hit away from reaching this record. While batting in the 10th over, bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal, Raina came down the track and smashed one over long-on for a maximum and completed his 200 sixes in the tournament history.

With this record, Raina has joined a list of elite batsmen which is led by Chris Gayle with 354 sixes, followed by AB de Villiers (240), Rohit Sharma (222), Dhoni (217), Kohli (204), Kieron Pollard (202).

CSK had a great game against RCB as the former ended latter’s winning streak of 4 and handed them a 69-run loss. With this win, the MS Dhoni-led side has reached the top spot on the points table with 8 points to their name as they have 4 wins in 5 matches.

After RCB, MS Dhoni and Co. will be taking on David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday (28 April) at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
