Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell had nearly gave his team a chance to win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their fourth match of IPL 2021. KKR were 31/5 when Russell walked in to bat and scored 22-ball 54 runs.

However, Russell couldn't get done with the task and was dismissed by Sam Curran in the 12th over. He misjudged the line of the ball and ended up leaving a delivery on the leg-stump. After getting out, he was spotted sitting on the stairs of the pavilion.

The Caribbean cricketer talked about his disappointing dismissal and why he was sitting on the stairs. "Well, I was very emotional and I didn’t know how to go to the changing room and face all my teammates after leaving a ball and getting out bowled like that,” Russell told KKR.in.

“You know, the job is not complete, and I wanted to take the team over the line. So I think the emotions got the best of me but staying strong,” he added.

Russell always backs himself to score the remaining runs in a chase despite a high asking rate. “Once I’m there, you know everything is possible. Yeah, I’ve done it before a lot of times. So fans can know that listen, no doubt even when it’s 100 runs in 20 balls, there’s always a possibility of 20 sixes; who knows?”, he said.

KKR captain Eoin Morgan had recently said he stays away from Russell after his dismissal. “I tend to stay away from Andre Russell after he gets out," Morgan said in a post-match interview.

Reacting to the comment, Russell said: “Well, when you get out, and you know the job is not done, you tend to be angry and the HULK can come out. Last night was different. I was very emotional and disappointed. I wanted to take it home so badly. I was heartbroken.”

KKR had lost the match against CSK by 18 runs. They were chasing 221 and got very close to the target despite a collapse in the powerplay. Pat Cummins was the top scorer for Kolkata with unbeaten 66 runs.
