IPL 2021: Cricket fraternity reacts as Ruturaj Gaikwad slams 42-ball 64 to propel CSK to 220/3 against KKR

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis added 115 runs for the opening wicket.

Ruturaj Gaikwad | BCCI/IPLChennai Super Kings (CSK) are facing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 15th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday (April 21).

Invited to bat first, CSK got off to a brilliant start as the duo of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis added 115 runs for the opening wicket. In particular, Gaikwad was severe on the KKR bowlers as he smashed 64 off 42 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Varun Chakravarthy removed Gaikwad in the 13th over but Faf du Plessis held the one end firmly. Du Plessis and Moeen Ali shared a 50-run stand for the second wicket before the latter got out on 25 off 12 balls.

After Moeen’s dismissal, Du Plessis joined forces with CSK skipper MS Dhoni and the pair put on a 36-run partnership in double-quick time.

While Dhoni was dismissed for 8-ball 17, Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 95 off 60 balls (9 fours and 4 sixes) to propel CSK to a mammoth 220/3 in 20 overs.

For his brilliance at the top, Ruturaj Gaikwad garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
