Delhi Capitals (DC) opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan while talking about the match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2021 said that he was disappointed to not finish the game for his team.

After restricting defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) for 137/9, Delhi Capitals on account of veteran batsman Shikhar Dhawan’s 42-ball 45 runs knock chased the target and registered their third win of the season.

The southpaw stitched important partnerships with Steve Smith and Lalit Yadav to help his team register their second consecutive win and was set for yet another fifty but was caught by Krunal Pandya off Rahul Chahar in the 15th over.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony after the match, Shikhar Dhawan said it’s always great to beat a champion team like Mumbai Indians as the confidence level naturally goes up.

"Totally opposite to Wankhede, feeling great to win in Chennai, feels good when you can beat a team like Mumbai Indians, the confidence level will naturally go high," Shikhar Dhawan said during the post-match presentation.

Dhawan said that he was disappointed with himself as he could not finish the game. He added that the way his team played they deserved to win.

"We knew that it would be tough for them when the ball gets wet, the spinners would find it hard, wanted to keep the partnerships going, strung together a good stand with Lalit (Yadav), a bit disappointed at not having finished it off. But glad that we ended up winning the game, the way we played, I think we deserved to win," he said.

Delhi Capitals will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday 25th April at Chennai.
