India’s Academy Award-winning music composer AR Rahman is among the biggest fans of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and he dedicated the iconic song “Chale Chalo” from his 2001 film “Lagaan” to MS Dhoni as it motivates to play together.
After a devastating IPL 2020 season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would have been hoped for a better season this year, but again the charismatic captain Dhoni failed both as batsman and captain, as two-time IPL champions lost the first game of the season to Rishabh Pant-led side last week.
With CSK seems again in a spot of bother in the ongoing IPL 2021, Rahman dedicated two iconic Bollywood songs to Dhoni and Suresh Raina ahead of the CSK’s next IPL 14 game against Punjab Kings on Friday (April 16) with a hope that it would inspire them in the tournament.
India’s most high-profile singer and songwriter also dedicated the song “Mangta Hai Kya” from the movie Rangeela to Suresh Raina while the song “Chale Chalo” to Dhoni.
Rahman said on Star Sports show Cricket Live, “I would like to dedicate the song 'Chale Chalo' from the movie Lagaan to MS Dhoni, as it motivates people to play cricket together.”
The iconic singer added, “For Suresh Raina, I would like to dedicate the song 'Mangta Hai Kya' because whenever I went to Bangalore, they were listening to a lot of songs from Rangeela.”
The 39-year-old former India captain went back to the pavilion for zero against DC last week.
