IPL 2021: Curfew to not affect IPL games at Wankhede Stadium - reports

Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is supposed to host its share of 10 IPL games.

Wankhede Stadium | TwitterThe number of COVID-19 cases has been increasing rapidly in Maharashtra which has caused the government to impose a statewide curfew starting from 14 April to 1 May to curb the number of cases.

This announcement had created a lot of question marks on the IPL matches to be held at Wankhede Stadium, but a source in the know of the developments in the IPL organizing committee has confirmed that the matches will not be affected by the curfews and will go on as scheduled.

No effect on Mumbai matches as we have special permission, everything will go ahead as planned and we will take all necessary precautions, the source told ANI.

The venue in Mumbai is supposed to host its share of 10 IPL games this year and four teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Punjab Kings (PBKS) have set their base in the Mumbai.

The next games to be held at Wankhede Stadium are between Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals and last year’s finalists Delhi Capitals on Thursday (15 April) followed by the matchup between the three-time champions CSK against KL Rahul’s PBKS on Friday (16 April).
