IPL 2021: Needed another 15-20 runs against DC - CSK's Suresh Raina

Raina made a fantastic comeback to the IPL as he scored 54 off just 36 deliveries.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman Suresh Raina who made a superb return to the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) after missing last year’s edition of the tournament in UAE, felt that CSK fell 15-20 runs short in the opening game against Delhi Capitals (DC).

The Chennai-based franchise had put up a target of 189 runs for the finalists from last year, thanks to a wonderful 54 off just 36 deliveries by Raina.

A bit disappointed to lose the game, it could have been better, but like I said it is always nice to come back and do the Whistle Podu. It could have been better if we would have scored 15-20 runs more,Raina said in a video posted on CSK’s official website.

When asked about returning to the IPL, the southpaw said, “It feels amazing to be back with MS Dhoni and the Chennai Super Kings. It is always good to contribute to a side that has done so much for the players, who have done so much for every person. It's a pride that I have cherished all my life.

Even though CSK lost the match, the 34-year-old was positive that after a few good practice sessions, the results will come as he said, “I think we bowled better in the middle overs, in the next few days we will have a few good practice sessions where can we learn what to do better.

After DC, MS Dhoni and Co. will face KL Rahul’s Punjab Kings on 16 April at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
