Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar had a bit of advice for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, MS Dhoni after they lost their first match of IPL 2021 against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday (April 10) by 7 wickets.
Gavaskar believes Dhoni can bat a little up in the batting order and that would help the youngsters in the side. He also feels there should be a change in the batting order of Sam Curran as well. Dhoni came to bat at number 7 and Curran was sent at 8.
"I think as far as CSK is concerned, MS Dhoni also has to take a few calls about his batting order. He came down and he thinks maybe he should bat only for the last four-five overs. But I think he also needs to guides the team a little bit. He has a team of youngsters, some of them are pretty young", he said.

Curran helped CSK score quick runs in the last few overs. He scored 34 runs off 15 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.
"Even Sam Curran is not too old as far as international cricket is concerned, and he batted so well. So, yes, maybe he look at having Sam Curran up the batting order at no. 3 or 4 just like he was in the UAE," Gavaskar added on Star Sports.
"But Dhoni also has to come up the batting order somewhere down the line. Because that is the way he will be able to control it. He was out on the 2nd ball he faced today, that can happen to anybody. But as the tournament progresses, he has to come at a little bit higher, maybe at 6, maybe at 5, and show the way."
CSK were asked to bat first by DC captain Rishabh Pant, and they scored 188 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Delhi chased down the target in just 18.4 overs and won the match with ease after a 138-run opening partnership between Prithvi Shaw (72) and Shikhar Dhawan (85). They will face Punjab Kings on April 16 in their second match.
