IPL 2021: I love playing with players like Glenn Maxwell who just want to win, says AB de Villiers

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman AB de Villiers while talking about RCB’s victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2021 opener said that it was absolute pleasure playing alongside Glenn Maxwell. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians by two wickets in a nail-biting thriller at Chennai. 

Opting to bowl, RCB on account of Harshal Patel’s 5 for 27 restricted MI to a total of 159/9 in their quota of 20-overs. Chasing the target Virat Kohli led side strumbled as they were reduced from 98/3 to 122/6 in quick succession of time.

However, AB de Villiers led the rescue charge and played a brilliant knock of 48 off 27 balls to help RCB register their first win of the season.

Taking about RCB’s victory, AB de Villiers said that it was an incredible game of cricket and they knew if they could take it to the end they could have a chance. 

"Was an incredible game of cricket. We knew it wasn't going to be easy, we knew it wasn't an easy pitch to play on and it's one of those wickets that gets harder as the game goes on and we knew if we could take it to the end we could take a chance," AB de Villiers told Star Sports after the match.

Glenn Maxwell however, was the second highest run-scrorer for RCB. He batted at No.4 and took charge after powerplay with his 28-ball 39 runs.

While talking about playing with Glenn Maxwell, De Villiers said that he loves playing with cricketers like those who just want to win cricket games. 

"Absolute pleasure playing alongside him (Maxwell). I love playing with players like that and he just wants to win cricket games. And also there's Dan Christian," he said. 

Royal Challengers Bangalore will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next match at the same venue in Chennai on April 14. Virat Kohli-led franchise would look to continue their winning momentum and register their second win of the season.
