Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) new-recruit Harishankar Reddy has recalled the day when he earned his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) contract at the IPL 2021 auction in February.
The right-arm fast bowler got quite emotional after he was picked by the three-time IPL champions CSK at his base price of INR 20 lakhs at the IPL 2021 auction in Chennai.
Reddy, who had made headlines recently after a video went viral showing the pacer uprooting the stumps of the legendary MS Dhoni at nets, has named South’s popular actor Nani as his favorite, as well as, expressed his love for his blockbuster film ‘Jersey’ in a video uploaded by CSK on Twitter.
The 22-year-old again gained the limelight as he expressed his love for South’s popular actor Nani and the blockbuster film “Jersey” in a video uploaded by CSK’s Twitter handle.

In the latest video uploaded by the CSK, the 22-year-old revealed how he felt on auction day and he went to his room and screamed after being picked by the franchise at the IPL auction as he could not believe that he had been picked for the upcoming IPL 2021.
The fast-bowler further revealed that he has watched Nani's film “Jersey” a lot of times and the train scene always makes him very emotional since it relates to his journey.
Notably, the Jersey film is based on a cricketer's life and it revolves around the struggle of a cricketer who aims to represent India and returns to playing cricket in his late thirties.
Harishankar Reddy said in the video: “When I got selected in the auction and the players were congratulating me, I went to the room and screamed. 'Come on, YES!' at the top of my voice. I was wondering if it was a dream or real. I don't know what I was going through.”
He further added about the film and actor, “My favorite actor is Nani, Natural Star Nani. I have seen his jersey movie a lot of times, especially the train scene. The scene shows him getting added to the team after a lot of struggle. It made me very emotional because I can feel that pain.”
The pacer signed off by saying, “Normal audience may not connect with why he shouts and probably think it is overacting. As a player, I can understand it better - the pain and the struggle.”
Meanwhile, the franchise also urged Nani to watch the video and the actor didn’t disappoint his fan as he responded by a heart emoji as well as re-tweeted.
