IPL 2021: Very fortunate to play under the legend Anil Kumble says PBKS new recruit Jalaj Saxena

Saxena is yet to play a single IPL game, despite being part of three IPL franchises.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) who went in the player auction for IPL 2021 with the most money in their purse, has come out with a good mix of young and experienced players. One of their new recruits is Kerala all-rounder Jalaj Saxena.

The 34-year-old who has been a part of three IPL franchises will now play for the revamped Punjab-based franchise and is excited to learn from head coach Anil Kumble.

Very happy and excited to be in the IPL. We all know that IPL is a very good platform for everyone who wants to play for the country. You never know, one good season and you’re there. Very happy and excited, hopefully, I’ll get an opportunity, and hopefully,” Saxena said.

The right-hand off-spinner then talked about having a great opportunity of learning from legendary spinner Anil Kumble himself.

I feel I’m very fortunate to play under Anil Kumble (coach). Anil sir is a legend and if I talk about spin. he’s an institution. There will be so much to learn from him and I’m looking forward to it. Hope I learn many things,” the right-hander said.

Saxena who has represented India A, had a great Vijay Hazare Trophy as he picked 8 wickets at an economy of 3.74, whereas in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2021, he got 10 wickets from 5 matches at an outstanding economy of 6.26.

Punjab Kings will begin their IPL 14 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on 12 April at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
