Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) batsman Nitish Rana joined his teammates on the field in Chennai on Friday (April 2) after clearing two consecutive COVID-19 tests and 12 days of an extended quarantine.

On Friday, the 27-year-old entered the ground for the first time and began his practice for the upcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting April 9 (Friday).

Having just beaten the COVID-19, Rana, who wasn’t COVID-19 positive when he took the flight for Mumbai, urged everyone to stay safe and take all necessary precautions against Coronavirus.

In the video shared by KKR on Twitter, the left-hander said he contracted the deadly virus on his arrival in Mumbai despite taking all the precautions and he had to spend 12 days in isolation at the team hotel in Mumbai before finally hitting the ground on Friday.

Rana further said he is finally out of his room and feels absolutely fine and batted as well while expressing delight after rejoining his KKR teammates ahead of the IPL 2021. He also sent a message to all the fans to take all the precautions against the deadly virus and don’t take it lightly as no one knows how COVID-19 can affect the body.

The KKR captioned the post, “Nitish Rana joined his teammates last evening, after two consecutive negative results for Covid-19. Having just beaten the virus, he urged everyone to stay safe and take all necessary precautions against Coronavirus.”

Earlier on April 1, the KKR had issued a statement regarding Nitish’s COVID-19 situation.

The statement reads: “Nitish Rana had checked into the KKR team hotel in Mumbai, on March 21, 2021, with a negative COVID report which was done on March 19, 2021. As per IPL protocol, he was tested on March 22, during his quarantine and the report showed that he was positive. He has had no symptoms and has been completely asymptomatic since. Again as per IPL protocol, he isolated himself and was tested again today. We are glad to report that he has tested negative. We expect him to start training with the team shortly and be fully fit well before the start of the season.”

Noteworthy, KKR will kick-start their IPL 14 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai on April 11.
