Ahead of his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season, England batsman Dawid Malan has shared a message for Punjab Kings (PBKS) fans while sharing his experience with the new team.

After completing his England duty against India in a recent white-ball series, Malan is now gearing up for his debut in IPL 2021 with the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The world’s number one ranked T20I batsman was bought by the PBKS for INR 1.5 crore at the IPL 2021 auction earlier this year.

Well, addressing the Punjab Kings fans on Wednesday (March 31), Malan has thanked the fans for their constant support and vowed to take PBKS all the way to the maiden IPL trophy this season in a video posted by the franchise on its official Twitter handle.

Last season, the franchise failed to make it into the IPL 2020 playoffs in the UAE despite the PBKS captain KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal being one of the top run-getters in the tournament and Mohammad Shami took 20 wickets in 14 matches.

However, Malan wants to win the IPL 2021 for PBKS in his debut season and also hopes that 2021 is the year that the luck changes for the Punjab Kings and his team finally lift the IPL trophy.

Malan said in the video: “Message for all the fans and whoever watches the game, we are grateful to your support and hopefully this year is the year that the luck changes for us and we can put in some good match-winning performances, make the playoffs and hopefully win that trophy in the end.”

The Englishman further added, “Great to be part of the team. Great to get to meet some of the guys and see how they do their work. They made me feel extremely comfortable, extremely welcome which is you know a massive hurdle in joining a new team.”
