Australia's fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). He was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad for the upcoming season.

Hazlewood said the life in bio-bubble and quarantine has been tough in the last 10 months and he wants to take a rest before back-to-back cricket action after the two months.

“It’s been a long 10 months in bubbles and quarantine at different times, so I decided to have a rest from cricket and spend some time at home and in Australia in the next two months,” Hazlewood told cricket.com.au.

Australia will be on the tour of the West Indies before flying to Bangladesh and then the T20 World Cup in India and Ashes are scheduled to be played. “We’ve got a big winter ahead too. The West Indies is going to be a long tour, with Bangladesh (T20 tour) potentially thrown on the end of that.

“Then potentially the T20 World Cup leading into the Ashes, so it’s a big 12 months … and I want to give myself the best chance to be mentally and physically ready for that.

“That’s the decision I’ve made, and it sits pretty well with me.”

Before Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, who was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad, decided to give IPL 2021 a miss. Even Josh Philippe won't be playing this season. He was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad.
