The IPL 2021 schedule was released by the BCCI which sees the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League being played across six venues and Ahmedabad hosting the playoffs and the final of the tournament. The IPL 2021 will be played from April 9- May 30.
Chennai Super Kings will open their account against Delhi Capitals on April 10 with the match to be played in Mumbai.
CSK had performed well in the auction as well, buying K Gowtham for Rs 9.25 crores, Moeen Ali for Rs 7 crores, and then had bought some local Indian talent like C Hari Nishanth, Harishankar Reddy, and Bhagath Verma for their base prices.

They also traded Robin Uthappa from Rajasthan Royals in an all-cash deal, bringing him in to replace Shane Watson as the opener.

Faf du Plessis and Robin Uthappa are expected to open the innings for CSK in IPL 2021. Du Plessis was the best batsman from the yellow brigade in their awful IPL 2020 season, while Uthappa is coming into the IPL 2021 with a good season in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The CSK can also ask Ruturaj Gaikwad to open given his good form in the previous IPL edition.
Suresh Raina will be back in the yellow jersey after missing the IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. His absence was one of the reasons CSK failed to make it into the playoffs of IPL 13. He, along with Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni will form the crux of Chennai middle order.

CSK will then have a brigade of all-rounders to choose from but most probably will see Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, and Ravindra Jadeja being included in the playing XI. Amongst them, Ali and Curran can also open the innings for CSK as well.
Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar will form the fast bowling attack for the Chennai Super Kings, with Jadeja partnering with Imran Tahir in the spin department.
CSK also has at its disposal the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Josh Hazlewood, and Lungi Ngidi as well, given some of the venues like Kolkata offer a lot of assistance to fast bowlers.
