Australian premier all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is looking forward to play alongside Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the IPL 2021 and said that Kohli is the best multi-format cricketer in the world.
Glenn Maxwell, who was drafted into the Punjab Kings last season for a whopping price of 10.5 crores, was among the five overseas players who were released by the KL Rahul led side.
Glenn Maxwell in the last season failed to put the stage on fire with his bat consistently, even then management kept backing him for matches.
The Australian hard-hitting batsman, in the 11 innings he played, failed to hit a single six. He faced 107 balls without hitting a maximum, something that does not go along with Maxwell's style of play.
However, even after having a disastrous IPL campaign Maxwell was one of the most expensive picks in the IPL 2021 auction as the right-handed batsman was sold to Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) for a whooping price of 14.25 crores.

Addressing his selection in RCB, the 32-years-old is eager to join the franchise this season and play along side Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who he feels is the best multi-format cricketer in the world.
"It's (RCB stint) going to be next level. He's (Kohli) been the pinnacle of the game for a while as a multi-format player from Tests all the way to T20s. He's been able to adapt his game, dominate for a long period of time and deal with the Indian pressure of being their captain and their best player," Glenn Maxwell told Australian Associated Press (AAP).
Maxwell further hopes to pick up some leadership qualities from the Indian skipper Virat Kohli in IPL 2021, which is set to from April to June.
"I'm looking forward to watching him go about his work, not just in games but in training, and hopefully tapping into some of the leadership stuff and try and learn off him." he said.
Glenn Maxwell revealed that how Virat Kohli backed him during mental health struggles.
"He's been a solid backer of my stance. In a way he probably understood a lot of the things that I was going through ... a lot of expectation and pressure, which I'm sure he can relate to." he concluded.
Maxwell finished IPL 2021 with just 108 runs at an average of 15.42, with a strike rate of 101.88.
