Chris Morris, who became the costliest IPL buy ever, said that it's natural that there would be a little bit of added pressure on him to perform.

In the IPL 2021 auction ahead which took place in Chennai, Chris Morris awestruck the entire cricketing world by becoming the most expensive overseas player in IPL history.

Chris Morris, who started his IPL career with Rajasthan Royals in 2015, incited a massive bidding war between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals but was finally booked at a jaw-dropping price of INR 16.25 crore by Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals and overtook Yuvraj Singh's price tag of Rs 16 crore by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2015.

Chris Morris said considering the lucrative nature of the sport, cricketers now have a responsibility to entertain their audience as much as they can.

“I don't think anyone in the cricket fraternity thought cricket would ever pay this well. In the past cricket couldn't set you up for the rest of your life.

"It's the way business is going, the way sport is going, especially in the pandemic. I think a lot of people are looking for sport as a way to escape. Sportsmen have a responsibility to provide as much entertainment as we can." Chris Morris said during a press conference in Durban.

IPL 2021: "We're have a very specific role for Chris Morris," says RR director Kumar Sangakkara

Morris while reflecting on his IPL contract said that it's an absolute lottery for him and added that there would be added pressure on him to perform but he's fortunate enough to have been part of Rajasthan Royals.

"The auction is out of our control. It's an absolute lottery. At the end of the day, I've got to do what I have been doing over the last couple of years. There will be a little bit of added pressure, that's natural. But I'm fortunate enough to have been part of this franchise before and I know what I'm getting into,” he said.

Chris Morris, who last played for South Africa in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, while talking about whether he would be available to play ICC T20 World Cup in India later this year said that it's a difficult question.

"That's a difficult question. If that conversation comes, it comes," he concluded.

Chris Morris represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 and managed to pick 11 wickets in 9 games at an economy rate of just 6.63 and played some crucial cameos with the bat.
