Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) signed Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell for Rs 14.25 crore at the IPL 2021 auction in Chennai. Apart from RCB, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) showed interest in the Aussie but couldn't afford the price.
Maxwell will be joining Yuzvendra Chahal, his old friend in the franchise. Both the cricketers were part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad in IPL 2013 and their friendship started from there.
Chahal welcomed Maxwell to the franchise and tweeted an old picture with him on social media. Calling their bond 'Tom and Jerry', he wrote, "When Tom and Jerry are finally in the same team ???????? @RCBTweets welcome to the family brother ???????? @Gmaxi_32 let’s #playbold #IPL2021Auction".
Earlier, Maxwell expressed excitement to play for Bangalore after being bought in the auction. He mentioned Chahal's name and said, "Couple of my friends Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson, and my old friend Yuzvendra Chahal are there. Haven't played together since days back in Mumbai.".
