IPL 2021: WATCH - "Looking to hit IPL full steam for RCB's first title," says Maxwell after joining Kohli-led franchise

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell may not have had a good season last year, but it hasn't affected his worth in the IPL 2021 auction. Maxwell was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs. 14.25 crore for the upcoming season.

Maxwell was released by Punjab Kings before the auction after he failed terribly with the bat. He was bought for Rs 10.75 crore by Punjab in IPL 2020 auction. 

The 32-year-old is eager to join the RCB franchise this season. He and Yuzvendra Chahal are very good friends and they have not played together since 2013 when both featured in the Mumbai Indians squad.

Maxwell said he will try his best to contribute to the team's goal to win their first IPL title. RCB took to their official Instagram handle to share the video message of the new member.

"Good day, everyone! Glenn Maxwell here. Just wanna say I am super excited to be a part of the RCB team this year. It was a pretty incredible auction last night. I was up all night, watching it. Thanks for all the messages," he said in the video.

"It has been great to see all support and all the excitement ahead of this IPL. Looking forward to playing under Virat Kohli, playing with AB de Villiers as well. Couple of my friends Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson, and my old friend Yuzvendra Chahal. Haven't played together since days back in Mumbai. Looking forward to really now those guys and hitting this IPL full steam ahead and getting RCB to win their 1st title this year," Maxwell added.
