IPL 2021 Auction: WATCH - Franchises clap out of respect after CSK buys Cheteshwar Pujara

India's Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara found a buyer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 auction. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought him for his base price of Rs. 50 lakh in the auction on Thursday (February 18) at Chennai.

Pujara has last played IPL in 2014 for Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings). Before Punjab, he featured in Kolkata Knight Riders' squad (2008-2010) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (2011-2013).

There was a round of applause when CSK made the bid for Pujara and got him at the base price. IPL's official Twitter account posted the video of the moment on the micro-blogging site.

"A round of applause Clapping hands sign at the @Vivo_India #IPLAuction as @cheteshwar1 is SOLD to @ChennaiIPL ", they wrote. 

Back in 2019, Pujara became the first Saurashtra batsman to score a T20 century, during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Railways. He scored a 61-ball 100 with 14 fours and one six. 

Pujara has played 30 IPL matches and scored 390 runs with an average of 20.52 and strike-rate of 99.74.
