IPL 2021 Auction: Set 3 & 4 - Punjab Kings buy Jhye Richardson for INR 14 Crore; Sheldon Cottrell goes unsold

IPL 2021 Auction: Set 3 & 4 - Punjab Kings buy Jhye Richardson for INR 14 Crore; Sheldon Cottrell goes unsold

England's Sam Billings, who played with CSK in IPL 2018 and 2019, couldn't find a buyer in the IPL 2021 auction.

Franchises showed very little interest in the first set of players in the IPL 2021 auction which featured international star batsmen. The likes of Aaron Finch and Jason Roy failed to attract a buyer.

However, there was a lot of fierce bidding in the second set of players, which was for the all-rounders. We saw a tussle between franchises for some big names like Glenn Maxwell and Chris Morris. But the third set, featuring capped wicket-keepers, got no buyer for any of the four players who went under the hammer.

There might be silence during the third set, but the fourth set with fast bowlers managed to grab the attention of the franchises. Australia's Jhye Richardson made Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings bid for him. Eventually, the Preity Zinta-owned Punjab took him for rupees 14 Crore.

Mumbai Indians bought back Nathan Coulter-Nile after releasing him before the IPL 2021 auction. Sheldon Cottrell, who was one of the big buys in the last auction for rupees 8.50 crore to Punjab Kings, failed to find a buyer this season.
