Nayan Doshi, the son of former India cricketer Dilip Doshi, is the oldest cricketer among the shortlisted players who will go under the hammer in IPL 2021 mini-auction on February 18 at Chennai.
Nayan, who has played for Derbyshire, Surrey, and Saurashtra, has featured in IPL during the 2010 and 2011 seasons for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Nayan, the left-arm slow orthodox bowler, said his father Dilip Doshi gave a thumbs up for his comeback in cricket. He had decided to make a return in January and after watching him bowl, Dilip agreed to his decision.
“I am ready, and I am bowling the best. I love the game, and I want a chance to prove myself again. When it comes to cricket, I want my dad to see and check (how I am performing). I decided in January that I am going to start playing again. "
"My dad gave me a couple of weeks. I wouldn’t take too many opinions. My dad being my dad, if I wasn’t bowling up to the mark, he would just say ‘don’t do this’."But he was really happy with what he saw and said to me, 'You can really do this.’ And for him to be happy, I am doing something right. That’s what I am going by,” he said.
In past, we have seen Pravin Tambe making his debut at 41 in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals. Currently, even Kings XI Punjab batsman Chris Gayle is continuing cricket at the age of 41 and he has shown no plan to hang up his boot.
Nayan has played 52 T20 matches and he picked up 68 wickets with an economy of 6.80 and an average of 16.80. His best figures in T20 is 4/22.
