Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) retained New Zealand batsman Tim Seifert ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. The franchise took a jibe at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after naming the Kiwi in the retained players list.
KKR's social media post featured CSK coach Stephen Fleming and mentioned his words for Seifert after his performance against Pakistan. The 26-year-old was the leading run-scorer in the three-match T20I series.
Seifert scored two half-centuries back-to-back and Fleming, who was a commentator in the series, said, "There’s a team in yellow that might have a look at you (Seifert) as well. Not just Brendon McCullum’s team, there are other teams out there."

But KKR didn't let Seifert go in the auction and responded to Fleming's comment. “Dear Flem, Sorry to disappoint. We are keeping him. #IPLretention”, writes the KKR head coach McCullum.
The franchise shared the post on Twitter and wrote, "The Kiwi tug-of-war has been settled. #TimSeifert will play for #KKR in #IPL2021."
