IPL 2021: Arjun Tendulkar becomes eligible to feature in IPL 2021 auction pool after Mumbai debut

Arjun made his debut for the Mumbai state team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Friday.

Arjun Tendulkar | TwitterCricket icon Sachin Tendulkar’s son, Arjun Tendulkar, on Friday (January 15) made a giant stride towards realising his dream of playing senior level cricket as he made his debut for the Mumbai state team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

While Mumbai suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Haryana, the match became the talking point because of Arjun’s highly-anticipated debut.

It wasn't the best of outings for junior Tendulkar as he conceded 34 runs in his three overs. However, he did succeed in claiming the wicket of Haryana opener Chaitanya Bishnoi.

With his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Arjun has also become eligible to feature in the auction pool for the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

While the youngster still remains far down the pecking order than some other youngsters in the domestic circuit, the fact that he is a left-arm pacer gives him the advantage to be roped in by some franchises.

Moreover, it must be mentioned here that the BCCI is likely to add two new IPL franchises to the tournament from the 2022 edition onwards. Even if Arjun fails to get a contract this year, there is a high possibility that he will be finding a bidder in the mega auction going forward.
