Dale Steyn makes himself unavailable for IPL 2021; thanks RCB for understanding his decision

Steyn played three matches for RCB in IPL 2020 and managed only one wicket.

South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. He posted a couple of tweets letting his fans know about his decision.

Steyn is a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side and he also thanked the franchise for accepting his decision. He was bought by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2020.

"Just a short message to let everyone know that I've made myself unavailable for RCB at this years IPL, I'm also not planning on playing for another team, just taking some time off during that period," the tweet read. "Thank you to RCB for understanding. No, I'm not retired."

The 37-year-old added that he would be taking part in other T20 leagues. "I will be playing in other leagues, nicely spaced out to give myself an opportunity to do something I've been excited about as well as continue to play the game I love so much.", he posted.

Steyn confirmed that it has nothing to do with his retirement, "NO, I'm NOT retired. Here's to a great 2021," he added.
