Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody on Tuesday (December 15) was appointed as Director of Cricket by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The 55-year-old was in charge of the franchise as head coach for seven years till the 2019, before being replaced by England's World Cup winning coach, Trevor Bayliss. SRH won the title in 2016 under his coaching and were finalists in 2019. They reached the playoffs five times in the seven seasons he was with the franchise.

It is expected that Bayliss will continue as head coach of the franchise, while Moody's role will extend to beyond coaching, a model also adopted by Royal Challengers Bangalore with Mike Hesson (Director of Cricket) and Simon Katich (Head Coach).

Tom Moody said he was thrilled to be back with the 'Orange Army' ahead of IPL 2021.
