Former India opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has revealed his IPL 2020 team of the season, at the conclusion of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.
The tournament saw many cricketers come to the fore, both Indian and foreign, and highlight their skills and talents in front of a massive TV audience. Despite the tournament not taking place in India and was played across just three venues in the UAE, it received much love from fans across the world.
Meanwhile, the tournament saw Mumbai Indians becoming five-time champions, while Delhi Capitals reached their maiden final. MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in 11 years.
However Chopra was focused on choosing the best performers of the IPL 2020 tournament and he started by naming KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan as his openers, with KL also being named the captain of the side. Rahul was the Orange Cap winner with 670 runs, while Dhawan became the first batsman in IPL history to make two consecutive centuries in one edition of the IPL.

He then picked MI’s hottest commodities in Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, both of whom were instrumental in their franchise’s record fifth IPL title. Kishan made 516 runs with 30 sixes in the tournament, while Suryakumar held the batting together with 480 runs to his name.
AB de Villiers and Rahul Tewatia were chosen by Chopra as the finishers for the team, with De Villiers being the key batsmen in RCB’s wins in the tournament, while Tewatia, the batsman, was the find of the IPL 13 tournament.
Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal were the spinners chosen by Aakash Chopra for his team, while Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Kagiso Rabada made up the fast bowling contingent of his IPL 2020 XI. Rashid was SRH’s highest wicket-taker, while Chahal was RCB’s trump card in toughs situations.
Archer was named the MVP of IPL 2020, while Rabada finished with 30 wickets and the Purple Cap on his head. Bumrah picked 27 wickets in IPL 13, the most by any Indian bowler ever, and helped MI defend their IPL crown.
In addition to that, Chopra named Marcus Stoinis and Varun Chakravarthy as 12th men of the team.
