Ajit Agarkar names his IPL 2020 XI; leaves Virat Kohli out

Agarkar also didn't name a captain of his IPL XI.

Only batsman to score back-to-back IPL centuries-Shikhar Dhawan | BCCI/IPLAs the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) came to an end, which saw Mumbai Indians becoming the champions for the fifth time and winning the title back-to-back.

The tournament also saw Delhi Capitals reaching the final for the first time and Chennai Super Kings failing to make it into the playoffs for the first time as well. As the tournament concluded, former cricketers took to social media to share their best XI of the IPL 2020 and Ajit Agarkar, former India pacer, joined the fray as well.

Agarkar picked Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner (548 runs) and Delhi Capitals’ Shikhar Dhawan (618 runs) as his choice of openers. He omitted the Orange Cap winner of IPL 2020 for most runs (670 runs), KL Rahul from his XI. Dhawan also became the only batsman to hit back-to-back centuries in IPL so far.

The XI which I have picked has Warner and Shikhar Dhawan to open,” Agarkar said in a video posted by Star Sports on their YouTube channel.

Then Agarkar named Ishan Kishan, who made 516 runs, and Suryakumar Yadav, both Mumbai Indians at the 3 and 4 batting positions. Yadav set the IPL 2020 on fire with four fifties and 480 runs in total. For support from someone experienced, Agarkar named AB de Villiers from RCB at no.5, who was the most prolific run-getter from his team.

Hardik Pandya and Marcus Stoinis were chosen as the finishers of the team by Agarkar, who also named Yuzvendra Chahal and Varun Chakravarthy as the spinners. Chakravarthy picked the only fifer in the IPL 2020, while Chahal was the trump card for Kohli with the ball for RCB.

As for the fast bowlers, Agarkar went for the Purple cap winner Kagiso Rabada, who ended IPL 2020 with 30 wickets to his name, and joining him was Jasprit Bumrah, who picked 27 wickets, the most by any Indian in IPL ever.

Agarkar did not name his captain, although it appears that responsibility would fall on Warner since he’s the only skipper among the eight franchises in the team.
