The Mumbai Indians (MI) lifted their fifth IPL title on Tuesday, November 10, when they defeated the first-time finalists Delhi Capitals in Dubai. The Rohit Sharma-led side was not at all new to the big stage and they took to it like fish to water.
MI was the only side in IPL 2020 to beat each side at least once. In fact, they beat the runners-up and the second-placed team in the points table, Delhi Capitals each of the four times they met in IPL 13.
The Men in 'Blue and Gold' have been hailed as the best T20 side in the world by a number of fans, cricketers, and experts. They have been joined by Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket-keeper AB de Villiers, who called MI 'the best side in IPL 2020'.
AB de Villiers tweeted, "Well done @mipaltan ! Without a doubt the best team this year."
De Villiers had a fantastic season for RCB. He scored 454 runs in 14 innings and registered 5 half-centuries in the season. He scored all these runs at an average of 45.40 and at a strike rate of 158.74. RCB qualified for the Playoffs on the back of performances from De Villiers, Virat Kohli, and Devdutt Padikkal with the bat.
They were knocked out of the competition when they lost the Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
