Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in a high scoring IPL 2020 Qualifier 2 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and with this win Delhi Capitals qualified for the IPL final for the first-ever time.
Earlier Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first. The new opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis gave a good start of 86 runs in just 8 overs. Rashid Khan broke this stand by removing Stoinis for 38 runs. Dhawan brought up his 50 but Shreyas Iyer struggled at the other end and got out. In the end, Shimron Hetmyer's 42* off 22 balls and Dhawan's 78 helped Delhi to post a big total of 189/3 on board.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a very poor start as captain David Warner got out for just 2 runs off Rabada bowling. Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg played some good shots but Marcus Stoinis dismissed both the batsmen in the same over and at 44/3 Hyderabad was in big trouble. Jason Holder too couldn't do much and got out for 11 runs.
Kane Williamson was rock solid at his end and brought up his fifty and got good support from Abdul Samad. In the last 4 overs, Hyderabad needed close to 50 runs but in the quest of quick runs Kane Williamson and Abdul Samad also got out, and eventually Sunrisers Hyderabad finished on 172/8 and suffered a 17 runs loss.
