IPL 2020: ‘Best feeling ever, journey has been a rollercoaster’, says DC skipper Shreyas Iyer after reaching finals

Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in the IPL 2020 Qualifier 2.

Stoinis produced a brilliant all-round showing in Qualifier 2 against SRH | IPL/BCCIAfter recording a 17-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2020 Qualifier 2, Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Shreyas Iyer said that the team's journey has been like a rollercoaster in this edition of the tournament in UAE.

Chasing 190 to win, SRH could manage 172/8 in 20 overs. Apart from Kane Williamson (67 off 45 balls), none of them in the line-up managed to touch the 35-run mark.

For the Capitals, Kagiso Rabada (4-29) and Marcus Stoinis (3-26) bowled remarkably well and shared 7 wickets between them.

"Best feeling ever. The journey has been a rollercoaster. End of the day we stuck together as a family. Very happy with the effort every individual has put in. It has taught me many things. A lot of responsibility comes with being a captain. But have been getting support from coaches and support staff. On top of that, the team has been so special. Really fortunate to have such an amazing team. The emotions keep going high and low, so you can't have the same set of routines," Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Earlier, DC piled up a massive 189/3 in 20 overs on the back of Shikhar Dhawan’s 50-ball 78. Shimron Hetmyer (42 not out off 22 balls) and Stoinis (38 off 27 balls) also made significant contributions with the bat.

With this victory, Delhi Capitals secured their final berth and will face the Rohit-Sharma led Mumbai Indians (MI) in the summit clash on November 10.

"Hoping that in the next game as well, against Mumbai Indians, the biggest team, we're able to play freely. We're going at 10 runs per over, but we know Rashid can be lethal in the middle. The plan was to not give him wickets. Were lacking with the opening partnership. Needed a rocket start, We thought if he goes and plays maximum deliveries he can give us a good start," Iyer remarked.
