Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and with this win SRH qualified for Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals (DC) while RCB were knocked out of the IPL 2020.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first. Jason Holder gave them a good start by picking up two quick wickets of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, and at 15/2, RCB was in deep trouble. Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers tried to rebuild the innings but Finch also threw his wicket away and in the next over Moeen Ali got run out on a free hit. AB de Villiers was solid at his end and his 56 runs knock helped RCB to post a total of 131/7 on board.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad also had a poor start as Shreevats Goswami got out for a duck. Manish Pandey and David Warner took score to over 40 runs. Siraj dismissed Warner for 17 runs and Zampa dismissed Pandey and Hyderabad were reduced to 55/3 in the 9th over. In the middle overs, Zampa and Chahal bowled well and tried their best for a come back.
In the last 7 overs Hyderabad needed 60 runs to win. Kane Williamson and Jason Holder took the charge in their hands. Williamson was just too good on the sluggish pitch and kept scoring runs. Eventually his 50* and Holder's 24* took their team home in the last over.
