Chennai Super Kings (CSK) owner N Srinivasan has not lost faith in MS Dhoni despite a poor outing in IPL 2020. CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time out of all seasons they participated and finished at number 7 this year.
The 39-year-old has only failed to take the side to playoffs twice in his IPL career. When Dhoni was leading Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016, they finished at number 7. The next season, he was sacked from captaincy.
But Srinivasan confirmed Dhoni will continue to lead the side despite 'one bad year' after a lot of success.
“He will continue to lead Chennai Super Kings,” Srinivasan said. He added that Dhoni has communicated with him about the future. “I know what he has said and he has spoken to me everything,” the CSK owner told Mumbai Mirror.

CSK had to face a lot of hurdles ahead of the tournament. Their key players, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh pulled out of the tournament, and two players, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad tested positive for COVID-19, extending their quarantine in UAE.
Srinivasan also talked about the rising star of CSK, Ruturaj, and lauded the way he batted in the last few matches. Gaikwad won three consecutive Man of the Matches for his team, after failing in the first three opportunities he got.
“Ruturaj (Gaikwad) recovered from Covid late. Anyway, after 10 good years, one season can be like that. Next year we will be back,” he said.
Faf du Plessis called Ruturaj a young 'Virat Kohli' and the CSK boss agreed with him. “Of course, he is. He will be (like Kohli). Look at his batting. After a long time, we are seeing a classy batsman.” However, he didn't comment on Suresh Raina's future with the franchise.
