Beating table-toppers Mumbai Indians (MI) as comprehensively as possible on Tuesday (November 3) is a massive confidence booster for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before the playoffs, said their renowned wrist-spinner, Rashid Khan.
SRH came out triumphant in the knock-out fixture in Sharjah against the defending champions by ten wickets to seal the third spot in the points table.
Rashid feels the momentum that his team carry with them will help in the face-off with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday (November 6) in the eliminator.
The spinner, who bowled a spell of 1/32 in the first half, also heaped praise on his skipper David Warner (85*) and fellow opener, Wriddhiman Saha (58*), as their superlative knocks took SRH past MI's 149/8 very comfortably.
"Both the batsmen exactly followed the plan and gave us a good start that we need in a T20. They played brilliantly and did not force the ball and play pre-plan shots," Rashid told teammate Sandeep Sharma in a video posted over official IPL Twitter handle.
"They played according to the wicket and then having a victory against Mumbai Indians and that too by 10 wickets is a good booster for us as a team. Hopefully, we continue our momentum and I am super excited to play against RCB again," he added.
Sandeep (3/34) was the pick of SRH bowlers as his powerplay exploits also helped Rashid, as well as Shahbaz Nadeem (2/19) and Jason Holder (2/25), control the rest of the innings.
For MI, regular breakthroughs held back the side and it took another fighting effort from Kieron Pollard (41) to take them through to their score after Quinton de Kock (25), Suryakumar Yadav (36) and Ishan Kishan (33) failed to kick-on despite getting starts.
