Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan said his team was “absolutely outstanding” against Rajasthan Royals, saying they have given everything that they have in the game on Sunday (November 1) and they are happy with the win “regardless of playoffs qualification” in the IPL 2020.
In the 54th game of the IPL 2020, Morgan displayed his big heart and played captain’s knock, making a power-packed 68* off 35 balls with the help of half a dozen sixes and five boundaries to take KKR to a competitive 191 for 7 against the RR in Dubai on Sunday.
Defending the total, Pat Cummins justified his multi-million-dollar price tag by finishing with the deadly spell of 4/29 to crush the Royals as Steve Smith-led RR could only muster 131/9 in Dubai.
Following the thrilling 60-run win over RR, Morgan said it was an improved performance from the last one against CSK and KXIP, saying it is a matter of coming into a game irrespective of “the circumstances going on around that you cannot control”

England’s 2019 World Cup-winning captain further said it was collective team efforts and their commitment to winning the game to keep their IPL 13 playoffs hopes alive in the UAE.
Morgan said during the post-match press conference, “Given the performance, I think it was an improvement from the last game. In the last game that we played, we had the worst of the conditions. Today, we felt that there was no advantage in batting or bowling first.”
He further explained, “I think it is a matter of coming into a game today no matter the circumstances going on around that you cannot control like net run rate and keeping things as simple. And focusing on winning the game and what it takes to beat Rajasthan on any given day. I think everybody collectively committed to that and their own game plan as well.”
The KKR captain was particularly impressed with his team’s “absolutely outstanding collective bowling” performance by Cummins, Shivam Mavi, and Varun Chakravarthy – both took 2 scalps each against RR.
Morgan signed off by saying, “We seem to post about a par score. The impressive thing was our collective bowling. I think we were absolutely outstanding... Given that we have given everything in our performance today, the mood in the camp is good. Regardless of qualification, we feel we have given everything that we have.”
