Former England captain Michael Vaughan has heaped praise on Royal Challengers Bangalore’s young batting sensation Devdutt Padikkal for his brilliant performance with the bat in the ongoing 13th edition of the IPL 2020 in the UAE, predicting the youngster to play for India soon.

Padikkal has been turning heads with his performance in the domestic circuits since last year having finished as the top-scorer in both the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy last season. Even in the ongoing IPL 2020, the left-handed batsman has been grabbing headlines with his brilliant show for RCB as an opener in the tournament.

Playing his maiden IPL season, the 20-year-old has already scored 417 runs with the help of four fifties for RCB and continues to live up to the hype in the ongoing IPL 2020 in the UAE.

Impressed with the youngster’s brilliance with the bat, Vaughan, who earlier said the young batsman will play for India for a long time, said the RCB star will get “international colors very soon or within the next year”.

He further said it is unfortunate for the rest of the world that India may have found yet another batting star in Padikkal who is one of the finds of the IPL 2020.

Vaughan said: “I am pretty sure, in the next few years, we will see plenty of him. Not just in the IPL, he will get international colors. Whether it’s very soon, or within the next year, I am sure.”

He signed off by saying, “He’s just got the gift in the game. He can cope with the pressure. He has got a nice awareness of the game situation. He plays spin nicely which you would expect. He also plays the quicks with calmness and control. Unfortunately, for the rest of the world, India may have found another batsman.”
