Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta has extended her support to KXIP after their massive 7-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a crucial IPL 2020 contest in Abu Dhabi on Friday (October 30), saying “a one off day doesn’t define who they are" in the T20 league.
Captain KL Rahul (46) and Chris Gayle (99) were the star performer for KXIP taking the franchise to 185/4 in their 20 overs against RR, but the Punjab bowler couldn’t defend the total as Royals produced a cumulative batting show to chased down the target inside 17th over in Abu Dhabi
If KXIP would have won the game against RR, they would have strong chances to qualify for the IPL playoffs but the defeat has left them with only one game against CSK on 31 October to stake claims for a spot in the top four with 12 points presently.
Well, following the defeat, the equation is messed up for the playoffs, but the co-owner was still confident that the KXIP can still qualify for the playoffs of the ongoing IPL 2020 in the UAE.
Taking to Twitter after defeat against RR on Friday, Preity Zinta has encouraged her team by saying the IPL 2020 is still wide open for a lot of teams including KXIP.
Zinta wrote on Twitter, “One off day doesn’t define who we are. We can still do this. Hope @lionsdenkxip can put tonight behind us & look forward to our next game. This tournament is wide open for a lot of teams so whoever wants it the most will get 2the playoffs. Fingers crossed.”
Noteworthy, KXIP will face Chennai Super Kings in their last league game in Abu Dhabi on November 1.
