Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batsman Chris Gayle has coped 10 percent fine for violating IPL's Code of Conduct in the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Abu Dhabi on Friday (October 30).
Gayle, who slammed 63-ball 99 in KXIP’s seven-wicket loss to RR, threw his bat away in frustration after being dismissed in the fourth ball of the final over by Jofra Archer.
"Gayle admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction," the IPL release stated. "For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."
During his knock, Gayle also became the first batsman to smash 1000 sixes in T20 cricket. His innings was studded with 6 fours and 8 huge sixes while KXIP finished with a massive 185/4 in 20 overs.
In reply, however, RR overhauled the target with 15 balls to spare with vital contributions from Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson, Steve Smith and Jos Buttler.
With this victory, Royals moved to the fifth spot in the points table and kept their play-offs hopes alive. On the other hand, KXIP left their fate on other teams.
