IPL 2020: "Stay strong and be patient," Ravi Shastri keeps Suryakumar Yadav's spirits up

Indian national team call-up still a dream for Suryakumar Yadav.

Mumbai Indians' batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been consistently performing in T20 cricket for the past three years but has not managed to get a national call-up yet. The Indian squads for their upcoming tour to Australia were announced a couple of days back and Yadav's name was missing from that too.

However, the batsman let his bat do the talking against their fixture against the Indian captain Virat Kohli's side Royal Challengers Bangalore. Yadav led the MI batting from the front scoring his joint-highest IPL score of 79 not out off just 45 balls.

IPL 2020: "Suryakumar Yadav must be disappointed not to have donned India blues," says Kieron Pollard

He hit the RCB bowlers to all parts of the ground during his knock and kept Kohli guessing. SKY, as he is fondly known, has scored over 400+ runs in the last two seasons each for the Mumbai Indians. However, the Indian T20I side already has a strong middle order which is making it tough for SKY to break in.

A cricketer would naturally be disappointed after scoring tons of runs in domestic cricket and still not finding a place in the national squad. SKY was praised by the Indian coach Ravi Shastri and was asked to stay strong and patient.

Shastri tweeted, "Surya namaskar. Stay strong and patient"

In IPL 2020, Suryakumar has scored 362 runs in 11 innings so far at an average of over 40. He has also registered 3 half-centuries in the competition with two of them being his highest scores in the history of IPL.
