Glenn Maxwell, an expensive buy from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), isn't giving a satisfying outcome with the bat. Maxwell hasn't played as per his reputation as a big hitter. He is assigned a role lower down the order, but the Aussie failed to finish the games when KXIP could have won.
In the 12 games so far, Maxwell has scored 102 runs with a mediocre strike-rate of 102. He hasn't hit a six in the tournament yet, which is surprising for an experienced limited-overs player like him.

Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir feels Maxwell has got longer rope than he should have got. He added that any other franchise would have removed him from the playing XI by now.
“Who do you replace with Glenn Maxwell with? You have spent so much money on him?”, Gambhir said on ESPNCricinfo
“You’ve tried him at no. 3, you have tried him at no. 4. Probably this was the ideal bowling line-up to actually see the best of Maxwell. But he has struggled clearly in this season,” he added.
Gambhir said so many expectations on Maxwell is bothering KXIP at the moment despite results going their way in the last few matches. “Probably one of the worst seasons he is having as a player. It is hurting Kings XI big time because they have so many expectations from Glenn Maxwell and he just couldn’t deliver, probably from the start till now,” he further said.
