The Delhi Capitals have had a fantastic run so far in IPL 2020 but seem to have hit the roadblock with three consecutive losses since October 20. Their third defeat was a comprehensive one against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday, October 27.
SRH batted first in Dubai and scored heavily right from the start. They posted a huge total of 219/2 in their 20 overs. The Capitals were never in the chase losing early wickets. By the time the powerplay ended, SRH was off to a flyer and the scoreboard read 77/0.
IPL 2020: Rabada optimistic of DC's return to winning ways after successive losses
DC skipper Shreyas Iyer said in the post-match presentation, "This loss is definitely going to motivate us. I think we lost it in the powerplay itself when they got 70+ runs."
"Definitely a big loss, but you can't get bogged down at this point in time. We still have two games. One win is all we need - we've been waiting for that since the last three games," he added.
DC was sitting comfortably at the top of the points table with 7 wins in 9 games and was the most dangerous side in IPL 13 until then. They have hit a downward curve here but will have to come back to winning ways as soon as possible to take the momentum into the Playoffs.
Iyer said, "I think we need to have a strong and positive mindset. These losses are not going to put us down. We've been doing amazing before these three matches, and it shouldn't get to our heads."
"Any team can surprise any team in this tournament. You can't underestimate anyone, especially at the business end of the tournament. RCB is a good team but we must also remember that we've beaten them before," he said on their upcoming fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
